About Us

The year 2006: A bunch of Keralites who moved to Poland began the first-ever Onam celebrations here. There were just about 80 Malayalis at that time here. Eventually, these yearly celebrations became a central meeting point for most of the Keralites, along with their other friends from India as well as Poland.

Over the years, the number has been substantially increasing, and now we are a strong 4000+ community in Poland. Last year, the Indian embassy officials encouraged a few enthusiastic Keralite members from the Indian diaspora to explore the idea of forming an official association for the welfare of Malayalees in Poland and in turn, promoting international relationships and goodwill. The core group who were active in the community over decades, especially organizing Onam here as well as other frequent get-togethers took up this challenge. Along with extended support, a founding team of 20 Malayalis have put this into action.

With the growing numbers of Keralites also came new issues ranging from unfair treatment of fellow Keralites at various jobs, to unpaid salaries, leave issues, and inhuman treatment, the need for a registered body was crucial and hence was initiated.

Thus, The Kerala Association of Poland (KAP) was registered, as an official NGO, and is the only Indian association to be registered with Prime Minister's office (PMO) (https://www.pmindia.gov.in/en/) in India. We have also commenced the process of having KAP registered with 'NORKA' (https://norkaroots.org/), an agency under the Government of Kerala to enhance support and provide assistance for the welfare activities of NRKs across the globe. We, here welcome all the Keralites to be part of the association, as this is made for you.

We will have our general body elections on Jan 2nd 2024, initial year will have interim members who will hold the committee positions to get the association running. Every major city (region) will have their chapters. All the current member details will be shared shortly. Once again, welcome all the Keralites in Poland to the association. Let's all try to be of help to each other and grow!!
